We will be discontinuing sales and development of Videocue as of January 13, 2012. While we will continue to support Videocue for 6 months after the official phase out date, no further product development or updates will be provided. If you have questions or need support, please contact support.
Can I create my own title templates?
Currently Videocue does not support the creation of custom title templates. We recommend using your preferred graphic creation tool for making your titles, and then simply importing them as regular image files. Wirecast and Videocue will automatically recognize and use any alpha channel in the image.
What kind of graphics card do I need?
For Mac OS X, we require a Quartz Extreme capable graphics card. If you are unsure if your graphics card is supported, please download our evaluation versions; the application itself will notify you if it can be run. You can expect most Mac hardware made in the last five years to fully support Quartz Extreme.
For Windows, we need a video card with at least 16MB of video memory and certain Direct3D features supported. We recommend an AGP card (or better still, a PCI Express card), but Wirecast will run on some of the older PCI models. You can also download our evaluation version for information on whether the application will run on your hardware. Again, most PC hardware made in the last few years should be fully compatible.
How can I publish my finished video to my blog?
You first need to configure your weblog parameters. To do this, open up the Weblog Presets from the Window menu in Videocue. If you are not immediately prompted for an URL to your weblog, press the "+" button on the bottom left of the window. When you are asked for the URL, enter the URL that your users use to view your weblog. With this information, Videocue can auto-detect most of your information. You will still need to enter your password when Videocue is finished auto-detecting.
Secondly you need to configure Videocue to define a server where you will store your video files. To do this, open "Location Presets" from the "Window" menu in Videocue. From the Popup, select the FTP or .Mac account you will use, then fill out the required information for that location.
Once you have configured your blog and file location information, publishing is very easy within Videocue. When you are finished recording a video, the Publish dialog will appear. You simply select the location you have configured, then press the "Weblog" tab, check the "Publish to" checkbox and select your weblog.
Some weblog services allow you to post short video blogs directly on their websites. If your blog server can do this, you do not need to define a location for Videocue. Under "Additional Options" in the Publish dialog, simply check the "Upload movie to Weblog", and the video will be automatically uploaded to the weblog.
Why don't I hear audio when recording my presentation?
Videocue will mute all the audio in your presentation when recording or rehearsing. This was added to stop feedback from being heard in your finished recordings. If the microphones you are recording from pick up audio from the computer's speakers, you'll hear the dreaded feedback in your movie.
How do I make an audio podcast?
Making an audio podcast with Videocue is a simple matter of changing the encoding preset to use. Select the 'Export Settings...' option from under the 'File' menu. When the settings window appears, select 'For Podcast' from the 'Format' menu. This will automatically configure for audio-only recording. You can then enter your text, drag over your camera into the storyboard, hit record and read your text. The finished result will be an audio-only QuickTime movie.
Do you have any tricks or tips?
News Readers train themselves to not move their eyes when reading from a teleprompter. For easier results, you should step back as far away as possible from the camera when reading from the prompter. One trick is to then zoom in using a DV camera; this allows you to step further back without losing the full "talking-head" shot.
Hold down the Command (Apple) key and click on a line in the storyboard to instantly add a blank.
Videocue uses the graphics card directly to drive the teleprompter. We added a little easter-egg to showcase the power of the graphics card. When rehearsing, if you press the 'q' & 'w' keys, you can scale the prompter up and down respectively. The 'a' & 's' keys will rotate the prompter around. Hit 'r' to reset it back to its normal position. Impress your friends by reading from it diagonally!
My movie export out of VideoCue is fuzzier than my Quicktime export, why is that?
Quicktime Pro records at 640x480, 30 fps. Today Videocue only pull 320x240 from the camera. If your export is larger it will look fuzzier.
